ELPINA (Efficient Low-Power Spectrometer for Integrated Nano/Cube Satellite Analysis) is an exciting proof-of-concept project in collaboration with the European Space Agency’s Business Incubation Centre in Denmark. This initiative leverages the unique capabilities of the patented miniRaman technology to develop a compact, low-power spectrometer that requires no calibration—ideal for remote sensing in space. The project focuses on adapting the miniRaman spectrometer for integration with CubeSat satellites, including those as small as 1U. This innovative solution will enable investigations into material behavior in the challenging conditions of space, such as radiation exposure and microgravity, providing critical insights for future space exploration and research missions.
