We’re excited to announce Lightnovo’s involvement in a transformative project aimed at advancing infection detection in healthcare! Partnering with the Danish Fundamental Metrology Institute, the Clinical Biofilm Group at Syddansk Universitet, and Lithuanian collaborator Standa, we’re further developing our miniRaman—a compact, handheld Raman spectrometer designed to rapidly identify bacterial infections in wounds directly at the point of care.
About the miniRaman Project
Wound infections can present serious risks, especially following surgery or in immunocompromised patients. The miniRaman device will allow clinicians to detect infections on-site, providing immediate insights that enable faster, more targeted treatment. This capability marks a significant improvement in patient outcomes and infection control within clinical settings.
Project Progress
As a key milestone, we recently installed our Research Grade (RG) Raman microscope at Syddansk Universitet. This installation supports ongoing R&D efforts, leveraging advanced machine learning to enable highly accurate, non-invasive pathogen detection.
Funding and Support
The miniRaman initiative is part of the MbSens project, supported by The Innovation Fund Denmark through the Eureka and Eurostars programmes, co-funded by the European Commission within the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs. This funding highlights the importance of international collaboration in pioneering healthcare advancements. Running from March 2023 to August 2025, the project aligns cutting-edge technology with clinical needs.
We’re proud to contribute to this essential work in medical technology and look forward to sharing more updates as we progress toward practical, life-enhancing solutions.
Thank you for your continued interest and support in our journey towards innovation in healthcare!
